Human Resource Professionals

Ok, let us tell the truth. Often our human resource processes get bogged down by the humans we engage in the process. Knowledge, skills and abilities get dominated by tenure, "likeabilty" and charm. The 1964 Civil Rights act was created to insulate Human Resources for the practices of bigotry and prejudice, however it seems that these methods of human relations have creeped into our hiring, training and employee engagement efforts.

Our session are design to create critical space to uncover systemics bias, personal attitudes and expand the capacity of organizations to meet the need of an ever change workforce.

Do your employees need some help?

Women in the workplace, cultural differences, racism, hetero-sexism and new immigrants can be difficult issues for staff to deal with and understand. When we have not grow up with or even had to think about these issues we often make mistakes when we experience diversity in the workplace.

We can only improve.
There is nowhere but up from here. When are we ready to change? When we are no longer able to achieve our goals. When working with difficult or challenging individuals we help them transform their old behaviors, mindsets and attitudes by facilitating their discovery of new and enriching goals.



Practical Application: Andre's Approach
Many of the stories that are shared in the presentations are designed to allegories or fables used to demonstrate that practical application of the tools or techniques that have have been employed by me or others that I have learned from. Key concepts will be repeated no matter the content for repetition and to demonstrate the gravity of the core concepts. Which means that if you attend more than one of my sessions you might hear the same joke, more that once.

3 things to Know about our sessions

1. We discuss bias, stereotypes and prejudice and describe how your training addresses these challenges in a work environment.
The awful truth is that people are allowed to be bias, hold prejudice and operate with stereotypes, there are no laws that prevent those states of being. However, it is illegal to discriminate. Thoughts stimulate emotions, emotions fuel behaviors and behaviors determine character. What we know is that bias, prejudice and stereotypes build the foundations of our character. The ultimate result of poor character is discrimination. We work with folks to challenge their perceptions, assumptions and world view.
  
2. We teach simple, practical techniques to reduce conflicts on diverse teams. We help folks by asking a simple question, " The consumer/student/client, receive dignity and honor and respect in that interaction?" This question seems simple but with closer examination we begin to see that the reduction of conflict is directly related to the emotional impression that is created in each of our interactions. We teach individuals to be intentional in their speech, thoughts and attitudes until good customer service becomes habitual.

3. Encouraging creativity, flexibility, and innovation from a diverse mix of peers is vital to success. We believe that people have the answer their own problems and we create experiential activities, simulations and improvisational techniques to explore the dynamics of diversity and the empower individuals to play and become free thinkers.

Disciplinary Action.

Often as we are learning about diversity issues there may be employees that need more attention and individualized lessons. We offer one on one training and coaching. Our work allows individuals the chance to assess their personal values, organizational values and create action plans for personal and professional growth. These sessions are about 3 hours, via Skype, Online Learning and Online assessments.

Personal Growth.

How do I find my blind spots, I look for them. It is not our fault what we learned or did not learn about others growing up. Our parents given the tools they had available to them did the best they could with what they had. They were able to share their version and perspectives of the world that often had bias and jaded paradigms. When we get older it becomes our responsibility  to search for the truth and expand on everything given to us. These sessions are designed to create more cultural competence on a number of issues.
